    Nature enthusiasts will delight in the sanctuary's 125 pristine acres of agricultural fields, mature forests, and flowing springs in the secluded Backbone Mountain Range.

  • Hawah Kasat is an award-winning author, educator, non-profit leader, podcast host, TEDx speaker, and yogi. For over 25 years, Hawah has been teaching violence prevention, social-emotional literacy, conflict transformation, the healing arts, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and yoga to all types of students, from diverse demographics, around the globe. Since childhood, Hawah has been exposed to the living traditions, culture, philosophy, and practices of his ancestral homeland of India, and offers a rare perspective on Eastern and Western dichotomies.

    Hawah was trained and certified in Sivananda Yoga at the Yoga Vidya Gurukul, a world-renowned teacher training college in India. He holds a second certification in the Jivamukti Yoga School and a certificate from The Center for Mind Body Medicine in trauma relief and healing. He spent years also learning from other traditions including studying Ashtanga Yoga with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, Kundalini, Iyengar, Vipassana, Capoeira, and Kung Fu. His classes are dynamic and shamanic; a journey integrating his knowledge of ancient yoga forms with parallel modalities found in other cultures & traditions.

    Hawah is co-founder and former Executive Director of One Common Unity, an award-winning non-profit organization that has impacted the lives of over 40,000 youth and families, and Managing Partner of Roots to Sky Sanctuary. Over the years he released authored 4 books and produced 3 documentary films, including the widely acclaimed, “The Poetry of Yoga.”

    In his spare time Hawah enjoys: finding new foods to mix with chocolate, climbing trees and buildings, doing handstands on furniture, hiking through mountains with flip flops, body surfing ocean waves, making animal sounds and bird calls, enjoying a glass of wine at high altitude, lighting candles in dark rooms and traveling.   • Mimi Rieger, E-RYT® 500, is an internationally recognized yoga teacher and founder-proprietor of the in-person and virtual MIMI RIEGER YOGA | STUDIO, the Power of Teaching yoga teacher training program and PureFitnessDC, LLC. Rooted in over 25 years of practicing and teaching with a deep commitment to cultivating intelligent and intentional movement along and her passion for serving, she studies in an array of schools of yoga including Ashtanga, Rocket Vinyasa, Progressive Ashtanga, Budokon, Vinyasa, Yin and Forrest Yoga. 

    In addition to her treasured students, Mimi has taught First Lady, Michelle Obama, influential public figures, professional sports teams, corporate wellness programs, executive and worldwide retreats, global yoga festivals, community development events, workshops, and private clients. For her teaching philosophy, Mimi believes in encouraging students to explore their yogic journey with curiosity, courage and to find a safe and nurturing place in community.  Designing practical yet inspirational methods to discover a confident sense of energetic power and a graceful sense of ease is paramount in Mimi’s teaching.  

    She leads with compassion at the helm and honors the path of each student as they seek a comprehensive and revered awareness of body, mind, and spirit. Soaking up culture and traveling the world is one of Mimi’s greatest joys! She leads 3-4 yoga, culture and adventure retreats each year and travels with fellow seekers on their collective paths to soul discovery and deeper realms of movement. She curates and facilitates experiences and provides tools for finding more love, joyfulness and countless opportunities to celebrate life!
